Advanced British warship nears return to fleet
HMS Daring has taken on fuel for the first time in years, signaling that the Type 45 destroyer is approaching sea trials after being out of operational service since April 2017. The lengthy availability included the Power Improvement Project, which replaces unreliable diesel generators, as well as a broader refit and modernization package. Returned to Portsmouth in early 2023, the ship is now moving through crewing and shakedown preparations, a critical step toward restoring another high-end air-defense destroyer to the Royal Navy fleet for service into the 2030s.
