AFOSI Certifies Six Drone Instructors Ahead of Skydio X10D Fielding

The Air Force Office of Special Investigations certified its first six drone operators and instructors after a week-long course at Quantico in September 2026. The cadre will help introduce five Skydio X10D aircraft expected in January 2027 and establish a train-the-trainer approach for investigation-specific missions. Planned applications include crime-scene mapping and remotely observing locations, with training tailored to the office's technical operations rather than a generic flying syllabus. The programme starts a new investigative drone capability, while the reported certification and forthcoming equipment deliveries do not yet establish operational use in a specific criminal case.
