Airbus begins H225M build for the Netherlands

Airbus has begun manufacturing the Netherlands' first H225M helicopter at Marignane, France, under an order for fourteen aircraft configured for special operations. Announced on October 7, the production milestone advances a replacement programme for twelve AS532 Cougar helicopters currently serving with the Dutch armed forces. The new fleet will operate with 300 Special Operations Squadron at Gilze-Rijen and support the Commando Corps and Maritime Special Operations Forces. Intended tasks include special reconnaissance, offensive missions and military assistance, with the aircraft's dedicated configuration designed around those users; beginning manufacture does not yet mark acceptance or delivery of the first helicopter.
