AKINCI STRIKES AERIAL TARGET WITH SUNGUR

Baykar's Akinci uncrewed combat aircraft has struck a fast-moving aerial target drone with a Sungur missile during a live-fire trial. The demonstration validates a new air-to-air use for the Turkish short-range infrared-guided weapon and shows progress toward giving Akinci a practical means to engage drones or other airborne threats. The test expands the aircraft's potential mission set beyond surveillance and ground attack, but it does not by itself establish a beyond-visual-range capability, operational fielding status, or performance against a maneuvering crewed combat aircraft.
