Amprius Launches Energy-Dense Drone Batteries At Commercial Scale
Amprius introduced its second-generation SiCore 500 silicon-anode cell for long-endurance drones and high-altitude aircraft. The company says it delivers 500 watt-hours per kilogram at a continuous 1C discharge rate while using conventional lithium-ion manufacturing equipment, processes and cell formats. Initial production is planned at Fremont, California, with commercial availability expected in the fourth quarter of 2026 and volume output to scale through contract-manufacturing partners. If qualification and production cells reproduce the announced performance, the higher specific energy could extend flight time and range or increase payload without adding battery weight.
