Anduril acquires Popoto Modem to expand communications for autonomous underwater fleets
Anduril acquired Massachusetts-based Popoto Modem to expand acoustic communications for autonomous underwater vehicles, following more than a year of collaboration between the companies. Popoto’s technology was already incorporated into Anduril products, with the Copperhead underwater system identified as the first priority for deeper integration. The acquisition supports acoustic mesh networks linking underwater vehicles with surface platforms and wider fleets, allowing messages to pass between multiple nodes where conventional radio links are unsuitable. Anduril intends to combine that hardware with its Lattice software so individual operators can supervise larger autonomous formations and coordinate underwater missions within a broader command architecture.
