Argentina receives second batch of Danish F-16 fighters to strengthen airspace protection under 24-aircraft deal

Argentina received six additional former Danish F-16AM/BM fighters on September 30, 2026, bringing deliveries to 12 under its April 2024 agreement for 24 aircraft. The jets flew from Europe through the Canary Islands to South America with aerial-refueling support from US Air Force KC-135R tankers. A separate non-flying aircraft supports ground training and is excluded from the operational fleet count, with twelve contracted fighters still awaiting delivery. The acquisition is complemented by a separate US support package valued at up to $941 million, covering training, logistics and weapons including AIM-120C-8 missiles and GBU-12 guided bombs.
