Armed USVs for the Baltic: WB Group and Kongsberg to Add Air Defense

WB Electronics and Kongsberg signed a cooperation agreement at MSPO on September 8 to develop unmanned maritime systems for the Baltic and other operating areas. The partnership combines autonomous-platform, communications, command-and-control, air-defense and weapons expertise, with an emphasis on integrating sensors, control systems and effectors within a common architecture. Planned maritime platforms will combine imagery and electronic reconnaissance with other sensors, and the agreement allows weapons integration for missions against surface vessels. The announcement establishes a joint development and integration framework for military users, without identifying a production order, vessel quantity, delivery schedule or finalized armament configuration.
