AUSA 2026: Hanwha receives howitzer top-up order to meet US Army’s fast delivery demand

Hanwha Defense USA has received an order for three additional K9 Mobile Howitzer prototypes, bringing its U.S. Army commitment to nine vehicles. The follow-on comes less than two months after an August contract for six prototypes, which included options for a larger batch. The wheeled 155 mm system is participating in the Army's Mobile Tactical Cannon Wheeled effort to obtain rapidly deployable artillery and replace capabilities provided by towed M777 guns. Hanwha plans to display the K9MH at the October 12–14 AUSA exhibition, while the urgent acquisition emphasises accelerated delivery without establishing a publicly specified timetable for this additional order.
