Australia announces AIM-260 acquisition

Australia has announced acquisition of the AIM-260 Joint Advanced Tactical Missile. The air-to-air weapon is designed to provide longer-range engagement capability than legacy AMRAAM variants. Australia becomes the first announced operator outside the United States. The procurement strengthens Royal Australian Air Force long-range air-combat capability.
