Australia announces NASAMS is fully operational

Australia has declared full operational capability for its National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System, confirming that the medium-range air-defence capability is fully integrated with trained personnel, support arrangements and operational units. The Australian configuration combines distributed sensors, command-and-control elements and launchers to counter aircraft, cruise missiles and unmanned aerial systems. Full operational capability represents completion of the planned fielding standard rather than a new procurement award. The milestone complements Australia's newly declared initial operational capability for LRASM and JASSM-ER, but NASAMS serves a defensive mission distinct from those long-range strike weapons.
