Australia gets second batch of HIMARS two years early
Australia has received a second delivery of Lockheed Martin M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems approximately two years ahead of its original schedule. The additional HIMARS launchers will support the Australian Army's 10th Fires Brigade in Adelaide as the service builds its long-range precision-strike capability. Australia plans to acquire as many as 90 launchers, which can employ guided rocket ammunition and, subject to integration and availability, the Precision Strike Missile for longer-range engagements. Officials did not disclose the number of launchers in this particular batch, while the accelerated delivery supports the planned establishment of two long-range fires regiments.
