Australian Army says AS9 Huntsman can prepare to fire in 30 seconds after first full tactical self-propelled artillery test

The Australian Army completed the AS9 Huntsman’s first full exercise in a tactical environment on August 27 at the Townsville Field Training Area. Crews from 106 Battery, 4th Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery received target coordinates from 16th Regiment sensors after a HIMARS mission, conducted direct fire out to six kilometres, and reloaded live ammunition from an AS10 armoured vehicle. The Army says the AS9 can prepare to fire in about 30 seconds before rapidly relocating. The event also validated a digital sensor-to-shooter chain and was the unit’s first operation of the system without instructor supervision.
