Azerbaijani building armed USVs

Azerbaijan is building armed unmanned surface vessels with Turkey’s Dearsan and the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry’s Miras Military-Industrial Company. President Ilham Aliyev inspected the program on September 6 and received briefings on the Salvo armed USV and the Kayra one-way, or kamikaze, USV. The cooperation gives Azerbaijan a domestic route to manufacture and adapt unmanned maritime platforms for surveillance and strike missions. Public reporting did not provide quantities, delivery dates or detailed weapon specifications, so the program’s production scale and operational status at sea remain unclear.
