BAE Nabs $818 Million Order For More AMPVs, Details Army Unit's Work With AMPV 30 Prototypes

BAE Systems received an $818 million order for additional Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicles, extending production of the U.S. Army platform that replaces M113-family vehicles in armored formations. Separately, the company described two self-funded AMPV 30 prototypes equipped with Kongsberg medium-caliber turrets and counter-drone functionality, developed in six months with about $17 million of internal investment. The vehicles were delivered to an Army unit in April for Transformation in Contact 2.0 evaluation, while the service has not committed to buying the variant and expects two further prototypes in early 2027.
