Blackbeard Hypersonic Missile Shown Being Fired From Ground Launcher
Castelion released imagery on October 8 showing its Blackbeard GL hypersonic missile launching from a containerized pod on a high-mobility truck, revealing the ground-launch configuration under development for the US Army. The program initially uses a modified Multiple Launch Rocket System Family of Munitions pod before introducing dedicated prototype launch hardware and testing with the HIMARS fire-control system. Army fiscal 2027 plans include firing a production-representative missile and launcher pod. Blackbeard remains a development program intended to provide lower-cost precision fires against time-sensitive moving and hardened targets, rather than an operationally fielded weapon.
