Britain calls in industry for fleet of drone submarines
The Royal Navy opened preliminary market engagement for the Type 93 extra-large uncrewed underwater vehicle and the AUKUS Signature Payload Programme. It is inviting platform, payload, autonomy, software, integration and support suppliers to register interest for possible workshops, meetings, industry days and information requests. Initial consideration centers on vehicles approximately two meters in diameter and 12 meters long, although alternative dimensions are also welcome. The engagement supports the Hybrid Navy and AUKUS Pillar II work, but no final requirement, platform quantity or construction schedule has been established, and the notice makes no commitment to future procurement.
