British Army moves to restore long-range anti-tank strike

The British Army has awarded MBDA and Thales contracts to explore technology for a new beyond-line-of-sight anti-armour weapon, restoring a capability absent since Swingfire left service more than 30 years ago. The work forms part of Recce Strike, linking surveillance, targeting, drones, armoured vehicles, and longer-range fires so launch units can engage without direct line of sight. The contracts are an early development step; the weapon design, quantities, and service-entry date have not been announced.
