BWX Technologies says $189 million contract will supply nuclear reactor fuel for U.S. Navy submarines and aircraft carriers

BWX Technologies received a $189 million contract to manufacture and deliver naval nuclear-reactor fuel through its Nuclear Fuel Services facility in Erwin, Tennessee. The work supports the U.S. Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program and is scheduled for completion in August 2027. The fuel will serve reactor plants used across active and future submarine and aircraft-carrier classes, including Virginia- and Columbia-class submarines and Nimitz- and Ford-class carriers. The award concerns reactor fuel production and delivery to the fleet, not the construction of new ships or complete reactor systems.
