Canada moves closer to acquiring six Saab GlobalEye aircraft for Arctic surveillance and NORAD continental defence missions

Canada has signed a non-binding term sheet with Saab covering negotiations for six GlobalEye airborne early warning and control aircraft for the Royal Canadian Air Force. The agreement defines the scope for detailed talks but is not a purchase contract, so price, delivery dates, and final industrial commitments remain unresolved. Based on the Canadian-built Bombardier Global 6500 and Saab's Erieye ER radar, GlobalEye offers more than 12 hours of endurance and would support Arctic surveillance, NORAD warning, and command-and-control missions over Canada's vast northern approaches.
