China reveals laser-equipped Type 19 armoured vehicle variant

New images show a Chinese Type 19 eight-wheeled armored vehicle variant fitted with an unmanned cannon turret and a laser counter-drone system. The configuration appears to combine a 30 mm weapon with a directed-energy effector for layered defense against small uncrewed aircraft. Mounting both on a mobile infantry platform could protect maneuver formations while retaining conventional firepower. Chinese authorities have not clarified whether the vehicle is an operational model, a test platform or a demonstrator, and key details such as laser power, production status and assigned units remain unknown.
