Danish consortium secures contract for four naval environmental and minelaying vessels
Denmark’s defense procurement agency has awarded Orlogsskibe Danmark a DKK1.9 billion contract for four naval vessels combining environmental response and minelaying missions. The consortium brings together OSK Design, Karstensens Shipyard and Hvide Sande Shipyard, with Danish responsibility for design, outfitting, completion and subsequent maintenance. Hull construction is taking place in Gdańsk, Poland, where the first steel was cut on June 10, and deliveries are planned across 2028–2030. The ships will replace four existing environmental protection vessels and support oil and chemical spill response, patrols, mine operations and protection of underwater infrastructure.
