Desan Shipyard Launches First MPMS for Malaysian Coast Guard in Istanbul
Desan Shipyard launched the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency’s first multipurpose mission ship in Istanbul on October 2, 2026, advancing a two-vessel construction programme. The first ship was approximately 85 percent complete at launch, while the second had reached 34.05 percent completion, ahead of its planned construction progress. The vessels are intended for maritime surveillance, search and rescue, humanitarian assistance and disaster response, providing a broader offshore mission platform for the Malaysian Coast Guard. The first ship is expected to return to Malaysia in early 2027 and participate in LIMA 2027 after the remaining construction, outfitting and preparation work.
