Did The U.S. Navy Just Eliminate Decompression Sickness For Divers?

The US Navy's Divers Augmented Vision Device and Deep Sea Expeditionary with No Decompression suit aim to let personnel work at depths around 600 feet while remaining at surface pressure. The rigid one-atmosphere design avoids the changing gas pressure that normally creates decompression obligations and can improve mobility, visibility and communication compared with older atmospheric suits. For a properly sealed suit, that approach removes decompression exposure during the mission. It does not eliminate decompression sickness for conventional diving generally, and the system still requires testing, certification, maintenance and emergency procedures.
