Egypt Javelin Sale: US Approves 2,020 FGM-148F Missiles for $832M
The US State Department has approved a possible $832 million sale to Egypt of up to 2,020 Javelin FGM-148F missiles and 200 Lightweight Command Launch Units. The October 2 congressional notification names Lockheed Martin and RTX as principal contractors, with the missile quantity including 20 rounds for production acceptance testing. Javelin provides infantry with an imaging-infrared, fire-and-forget anti-armor weapon, while the FGM-148F’s multipurpose warhead extends its use against lighter targets and structures. The approval sets maximum quantities and an estimated package value; final procurement terms and the delivery timetable remain to be agreed.
