European defence groups unveil plan for homegrown missile shield interceptor
European defence firms formed the Bliksem EXO consortium to develop a sovereign upper-layer interceptor for NATO-compatible missile defence. The programme responds to demand for European alternatives to US Aegis and SM-3 systems. Participants aim to deliver an exo-atmospheric interceptor for anti-ballistic missile defence. It complements the newly launched Anti-Ballistic Missile Coalition with Ukraine.
