Ex-CIA boss was steps away when Russian drone hit Ukrainian train

A Russian drone struck the locomotive of a Kyiv-Warsaw passenger train at Yahodyn station on September 13, about two kilometres from Poland. Retired U.S. general and former CIA director David Petraeus was aboard a nearby train and identified the weapon as a jet-powered Geran variant, a claim not independently confirmed by either belligerent. No casualties were reported, and a diplomatic train carrying Boris Johnson and other European officials had crossed into Poland minutes earlier. Ukrainian officials said the diplomatic train may have been the intended target, while Russia referred generally to attacks on military rail logistics.
