F-16 fleet is getting a new mission computer, Air Force says

The US Air Force is preparing an industry day for a Next-Generation Mission Computer intended for F-16 Blocks 40, 42, 50 and 52. The new processor would provide the computing foundation needed to integrate modern radar, sensors, weapons, displays and software as the fleet receives additional upgrades. The event is scheduled for October 20 and 21 at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, with registration limited to 80 participants. No request for proposals has been released, and the Air Force has not disclosed the program budget, affected aircraft count, contractor selection process or installation timetable.
