Falklands Typhoons to be swapped for later aircraft

The Royal Air Force will replace the four Tranche 1 Typhoons assigned to 1435 Flight in the Falkland Islands with four Tranche 2 aircraft from the existing fleet. The rotation is planned for late November to early December 2027, after which the returning Tranche 1 jets will be removed from the Military Aviation Authority register and prepared for disposal. Tranche 2 aircraft provide newer avionics and a broader weapons-growth path, including Meteor, Storm Shadow, and Brimstone through later enhancements. The detachment maintains quick-reaction alert coverage for the Falklands, South Georgia, and the South Sandwich Islands.
