Fincantieri and PT PAL Indonesia sign agreement for the modernization of ex-Giuseppe Garibaldi
Fincantieri and Indonesia's state shipbuilder PT PAL have signed an agreement to modernize the former Italian Navy aircraft carrier Giuseppe Garibaldi, recently commissioned into the Indonesian Navy. The collaboration will cover upgrades needed to adapt the vessel to Indonesian operational requirements and integrate it into national naval doctrine. The partnership also positions PT PAL to develop domestic shipbuilding expertise through the modernization process, potentially strengthening Indonesia's indigenous naval industrial capacity for future programs.
