First LCU 1700-class vessel joins the U.S. Navy fleet

The first LCU 1700-class landing craft utility vessel has joined the US Navy fleet. The new craft replaces aging LCU 1600-class vessels for amphibious logistics. It supports ship-to-shore movement of vehicles and cargo. The delivery marks a fleet modernization milestone.
