GA-ASI Draws On CCA Experience For Wildfire Autonomy

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems is applying autonomy experience from its YFQ-42A Collaborative Combat Aircraft work to the clean-sheet Wildfire unmanned aircraft proposed for the U.S. Air Force's Massed Modular Aircraft competition. The company says networked control could coordinate dozens of Wildfires, using proliferated low-earth-orbit satellite links already demonstrated on its aircraft. Wildfire is advertised with more than 8,000 nautical miles of ferry range and carriage of two LRASMs or four Joint Strike Missiles, alongside sensors and other payloads. These figures are company proposals for an unselected design; no prototype flight, production award, unit price or service-entry date was announced.
