German RENK Wins €130M Leopard 2 Transmissions Deal as KNDS Scales Leopard 2A8 Output
RENK and KNDS Deutschland agreed to a contract extension worth about €130 million for HSWL 354 transmissions used in Leopard 2 tanks and related vehicles. The order also includes TCS-354A transmission control units and G4MA11 gear selectors, covering the drivetrain controls alongside the hydromechanical transmission, reversing and steering systems. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2029 and finish in 2032, supporting KNDS's expansion of Leopard 2-family production for military customers. Announced at AUSA on October 14, the agreement extends the existing industrial partnership, but neither company specified the number of transmissions or allocated the order to individual national tank purchases.
