Germany Approves Two Patriot Fire Units and 450 Net-Launcher Drone Systems
Germany's parliamentary budget committee approved replacement Patriot fire units and a counter-drone procurement framework potentially covering about 450 net-launching systems. The two Patriot units will be reacquired through the US Foreign Military Sales process to replace equipment transferred to Ukraine, with each unit combining radar, launchers, command equipment and power supply. Separately, the planned seven-year ARGUS Interception framework exceeds €1.1 billion, with an initial call-off of roughly €165 million intended for delivery in 2027. Net-launching interceptor drones capture small hostile aircraft and can support protection of military sites in urban areas, but the framework's maximum quantity is not an immediate order for all 450 systems.
