Germany Plans Dedicated Drone Regiment
Germany plans to establish a dedicated Army drone regiment from 2027, bringing reconnaissance, strike and counter-drone functions into a specialized formation. The government confirmed the plan on October 2, describing capabilities spanning different operating ranges and both airborne and ground systems. The regiment will be developed alongside the integration of uncrewed capabilities into existing formations, with initial establishment preceding full staffing and equipment planned for 2029.
