Greece Arms Deal: Up to $4B for US Missiles and F-16 Viper Upgrades
Greece has agreed to pursue US military purchases worth up to $4 billion, including additional F-16 Viper upgrades and advanced missiles and bombs, according to two senior Greek officials cited in the report. The agreement reached during the October 7 US-Greece strategic dialogue covers weapons for Greek F-16s, F-35s and Black Hawk helicopters, with detailed missile types not publicly specified. A proposed upgrade of 38 F-16 Block 50 aircraft is valued at approximately $1 billion, supplementing the existing modernization of 83 fighters. Spending is expected to be phased, with most of the package already incorporated into Greece's multiyear defense investment plan.
