Hegseth plans 'Autonomous Warfare Command'
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced plans to create Autonomous Warfare Command, or AutoWarCom, as a four-star combatant command focused on scaling robotic and autonomous systems across the U.S. military. The proposed organization would receive service-like authorities to coordinate requirements, procurement, training, and operational adoption across the joint force. Pentagon leaders described a target of standing up the command within roughly a year, but its exact structure, budget, relationship with the armed services, and operational doctrine still require implementation decisions and formal approval steps within the Pentagon.
