HII secures $336 million contract to launch work on fifth Ford-class aircraft carrier USS William J. Clinton

Huntington Ingalls Industries has received a fully funded $336 million U.S. Navy contract for advance material procurement for the future USS William J. Clinton, designated CVN 82. The award begins purchasing long-lead materials for the fifth Gerald R. Ford-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, with work scheduled through March 2039. Most activity will take place at HII's Newport News Shipbuilding division in Virginia, which is also supporting other Ford-class vessels at different construction and testing stages. CVN 82 is expected to enter service in the late 2030s.
