HII targets 15% shipyard throughput increase in 2026, plans to outsource over two million work hours to speed U.S. Navy deliveries

Huntington Ingalls Industries is targeting a 15% increase in shipyard throughput during 2026 after reporting 14% growth in 2025, as it works to accelerate U.S. Navy deliveries. With roughly 40 ships in construction or modernization at Newport News and Ingalls, the company plans to distribute more than two million labor hours to outside suppliers this year, 178% more than in 2024. HII is also investing in workforce, infrastructure, digital tools, physical AI, and distributed shipbuilding, but the throughput figure is a management target and not a completed production result.
