HMS Agamemnon remains in final in-water commissioning

HMS Agamemnon, the sixth Astute-class nuclear-powered attack submarine, remains in the final stages of in-water commissioning before handover for Royal Navy sea trials. The boat was formally commissioned in September 2025 but has stayed within the build and test program as systems are progressively verified. The Ministry of Defence did not confirm whether earlier project delays changed the schedule and continues to withhold planned in-service dates for security reasons. The seventh boat, Achilles, remains under construction while recovery work continues after a fire at Barrow-in-Furness.
