Indian Army purchases a small quantity of Javelin missiles

India has made a limited emergency purchase of roughly 60 Javelin anti-tank guided missiles for about 2.92 billion rupees, with delivery expected by the end of fiscal 2026–27. The weapon, produced by the RTX and Lockheed Martin joint venture, gives infantry a portable fire-and-forget capability against armored targets. The small order addresses an immediate requirement and does not itself establish domestic production, although India and the United States have separately discussed broader cooperation and potential co-production opportunities. Its limited scale suggests urgent operational replenishment rather than fleet-wide adoption.
