Indian Coast Guard commissions seventh Adamya-class fast patrol vessel

The Indian Coast Guard commissioned ICGS Ajit at Goa Shipyard on October 9, introducing the seventh of eight Adamya-class fast patrol vessels. The 52-meter, 320-tonne ship has a crew of 39, a maximum speed of 27 knots and a range of 1,500 nautical miles at 14 knots. Armament comprises a 30-millimeter gun and two 12.7-millimeter machine guns on remotely controlled, stabilized mounts, with more than 60% indigenous construction content. Based at Okha, Ajit will undertake surveillance, search and rescue, counter-smuggling and pollution-response missions, following its delivery in August, while sister ship Aparajit remains to complete the series.
