Industry pushes to keep nuclear skills in Scotland

Babcock and Nuclear Restoration Services have launched the Scotland Nuclear Skills Hub to build and retain the workforce required by both civil and defense nuclear programs. The initiative brings together industry, government, academia and skills organizations in support of the UK's ten-year Nuclear Skills Plan. Scotland's nuclear sector supports about 7,000 direct jobs, while nationwide civil and defense nuclear employment exceeded 100,000 in 2025. The hub is intended to align education and training with future demand across submarine, decommissioning, energy and wider nuclear work.
