Italy and Greece sign implementing agreement for transfer of two FREMM frigates to Hellenic Navy with Fincantieri support

Italy and Greece signed an implementing agreement for the transfer of two used Italian FREMM frigates to the Hellenic Navy. Fincantieri is expected to support preparation, upgrades and through-life services for the vessels, while Greece also retains an option concerning two additional ships. The arrangement gives Athens a faster route to modern surface-combatant capacity alongside its new-build frigate programs. Ship identities, final modernization packages and detailed delivery milestones will be settled through the associated government and industrial agreements before the ships enter Greek operational service.
