Japan considers transferring destroyers to Chile to maintain Navy strength before domestic frigate launch

Japan is examining the possible transfer of older destroyers to Chile as its own Maritime Self-Defense Force introduces newer frigates. Classes discussed publicly include Murasame, Takanami and Akizuki ships, which could help Chile sustain fleet strength without waiting for an entirely new construction program.
