L3Harris expands C-HOBS sensor production in Cincinnati, giving U.S. Air Force crews precise control over munition detonation altitude

L3Harris received a U.S. Air Force contract worth about $60 million to continue producing DSU-43/B Cockpit Selectable Height of Burst sensors in Cincinnati. The C-HOBS device lets aircrews select a munition’s detonation altitude from the cockpit, while radar-based sensing supports precise proximity fuzing over the target. Adjustable burst height can tailor fragmentation and blast effects to different target sets without changing the weapon. The award expands sensor and fuze production capacity, but the Air Force and company did not publish quantities or a detailed delivery schedule.
