L3Harris Starts Production On Tranche 3 Satellites, Expects All Deliveries By Early 2029

L3Harris began production of 18 missile-warning and tracking satellites for the Space Development Agency’s Tranche 3 Tracking Layer, with delivery planned for late 2028 or early 2029. The $955 million fixed-price award covers fire-control-capable vehicles distributed across two orbital planes, building on sensors developed for earlier HBTSS spacecraft. Investments of about $125 million in Indiana payload facilities and $100 million in Florida vehicle capacity are intended to support a high production cadence without sacrificing schedule for the proliferated low-Earth-orbit constellation.
