Land Forces 2026: BAE Systems positions ATLAS UGV variants for Australia's Project Land 156

BAE Systems presented counter-drone variants of its ATLAS 8×8 uncrewed ground vehicle at Land Forces 2026, positioning the concepts for Australia's Project Land 156. The A$1.3 billion programme, led by integration partner Leidos Australia, addresses counter-unmanned-aircraft requirements over the next decade, while the displayed ATLAS configurations remain candidate concepts. ATLAS measures 5.6 metres long and 1.9 metres wide, with gross weight ranging from seven to 13 tonnes depending on payload and autonomous on- and off-road operation. Exhibition models included a low-profile Vantage turret with a 25 mm M242 Bushmaster cannon and 260 ready rounds, developed with TerraSense Analytics.
