Lockheed Martin awarded BAE Systems a subcontract to supply AN/ASQ-239 electronic warfare systems for F-35 production Lots 20 through 22 and retrofit earlier aircraft. The integrated suite combines passive sensing, high-speed signal processing and threat-response functions to support situational awareness and self-protection against radar-guided threats. BAE is expanding manufacturing through automation, updated system designs, supply-chain investments and facility improvements while continuing software-based capability upgrades. The October 6 announcement confirms equipment for new production and fleet modernization, although BAE did not disclose a contract value or the number of systems ordered.
