Lockheed Martin gets $90.2M more for Trident II upgrade

The U.S. Navy awarded Lockheed Martin Space a $90.2 million cost-plus-fixed-fee modification for continued design and development of the Trident II D5 Life Extension 2 missile. Fiscal 2026 weapons-procurement funding is fully obligated, with most work planned at Kings Bay, Georgia, and Cape Canaveral, Florida, plus smaller shares in Bangor, Washington, and Denver, Colorado, through September 30, 2030. D5LE2 is intended to keep the submarine-launched deterrent viable into the 2040s for U.S. Columbia-class and British Dreadnought-class submarines; this action extends development under an existing contract rather than starting production.
